Books and Art

"Beauty will save the world." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

The Community of the Beatitudes desires with the whole of creation to sing the glory of God, and art has its unique way of celebrating His beauty. Thus, we seek to give witness to the vocation of man through art and beauty, namely, the vocation to lend a voice to the beauty of creation. We do this in manifold ways and depending on the skills and charisms of each member: writing books and poetry, singing, dancing, music composition, painting, iconography, photography, theater, sculpturing, and more.

Books

Already in 1984, so a decade after our founding, we founded a publishing house called Éditions des Béatitudes. Our goal has been to publish books that are faithful to the Word of God and to the teaching of the Church, and aid in reflection, discernment, formation and deepening of a person’s spirituality.

Fr. Jacques Philippe CB

The first member of our Community who was ordained to the priesthood is Fr. Jacques Philippe. With over one million copies sold in 24 languages, his books on themes such as prayer, interior freedom, and peace of heart have become classics of modern Catholic spirituality.

Sr. Emmanuel Maillard CB

Sr. Emmanuel is the founder of Children of Medjugorje, a lay missionary organization dedicated to delivering five simple messages from Our Lady in Medjugorje: fasting, praying the Rosary, reading of Scripture, attendance of Holy Mass, and going to Confession.

Music

Many members of the Community love to sing, play musical instruments, and, indeed, compose and record music. Here in Denver, we have recorded one album in praise of Our Blessed Mother Mary.

  • Come Holy Spirit
  • Et Incarnatus Est
  • If I Had Committed
  • O Jesus Living in Mary
  • Solis Praevia
  • The Spirit and the Bride
  • Hail Holy Queen

Art

“None can sense more deeply than you artists, ingenious creators of beauty that you are, something of the pathos with which God at the dawn of creation looked upon the work of his hands.” – St. John Paul II

We seek to worship God not only in the Church building. Through our creative talents, we hope to express our love for Him who created everything. As part of this emphasis on art, the Community also has several workshops. Check out these artworks and consider supporting these beautiful vocations:
